The goal of the BAS Program is to provide assistance to small and medium-sized businesses to improve their operations, enter new markets and gain access to sources of financing.
BAS assistance for a project consists of three components: assistance in setting up a project, monitoring and evaluating completed projects, and a grant covering 50% of the total project development cost. The grant enables developing companies to reduce project development costs while receiving assistance from highly qualified specialists of an accredited consulting company.
A distinctive feature of the BAS approach is the role played by the Program staff, who act as intermediaries and “catalysts” between enterprises in need of advice and the consultants who can provide it. BAS staff understand the enterprise’s requirements, diagnose the problems, and then arrange for the necessary consulting work to be carried out.
Advice is provided by qualified and proven local business or management consultants, not BAS staff. Business consultants complement BAS staff. Thus, the range of BAS support is not limited by the capabilities of its staff. This also means that BAS does not compete with local consultants, but supports their development.
